The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital provides the highest level of care for children who are critically ill or injured. Infants, children, and adolescents in our PICU are cared for around the clock by an expert team of board-certified pediatric intensivists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, educators, therapists, and other staff.
Our 20-bed PICU admits more than 1,000 children each year. Since the PICU at Children’s & Women’s Hospital is the only one of its kind in the area, critically ill and injured children are often transported from other facilities. That trip is made possible in our Care For Kids pediatric transport. This team of registered nurses and respiratory therapists are specially trained to transport children from neighboring hospitals and outlying areas both near and far.
